Distressing Trouser Fabric

For one of my outfits I have paired a feminine floaty blouse with a pair of distressed trousers which I have chose to make out of a mesh that had a PVC coating in a metallic greeny/grey colour. Before making the actual garment I decided to do some test samples using different materials.

Using different materials and techniques I tried to get the effect which mimicked rough stonework which was seen in the European cities, however I still needed it too look high end and suitable for evening or event wear.
Below (Left to Right, Top to Bottom)
- 60 grit sand paper
- 80 grit sand paper
- 120 grit sand paper
- Sand block (rough)
- 120 grit and sand block
- Raspgrator
- Fruit rind grater
- Cheese slicer
- Heat gun: Front medium
- Heat gun: Back medium
- Stretching by hand
- Heat gun: Quick high heat
- Uneven surface with 120 grit sand paper.

My favourite ones are the Raspgrator, Fruit rind grater and Uneven surface with 120 grit sand paper. As these have a really nice textures and have a slight pattern, and does not make the fabric look like its falling apart and has been created on purpose. As this will add a contrast to the blouse.

Above is all the tools I used to distress my fabric including:
- Sand paper in 60, 80 and 120 grit sand paper. (Higher the number the finer)
- Raspgrator (used typically on wood)
- Fine Cheese grater
- Fruit Rind grater
- Cheese Slicer
- Heat Gun
